How To Refill a Cat Genie Cartridge

The CatGenie is a unique device that replaces traditional cat litter boxes. It is a automatic cleaning and disposal system that flushes cat waste out of a tube and down the toilet. It then uses water and a cleaning solution to wash the litter contained in the device so that it is ready for the next use. The CatGenie cleaning solution is contained in cartridges that must be replaced after 120 uses. Rather than throwing the cartridges away, there is a way to refill them.

Wait until the cartridge indicator light blinks and the system beeps, which indicates that the cartridge is empty.

Turn the CatGenie machine off.

Remove the empty cartridge from the top of the CatGenie by grasping the top of it and pulling straight up.

Place the cartridge upside down on a flat surface so that the round opening is facing upward.

Insert the needle-nose pliers into the round opening and grasp the rubber plug located just inside the opening. Gently pull up to remove the rubber plug from the cartridge.

Insert a straw one-half inch into the round opening and blow into it to open up the internal bag. Remove the straw.

Purchase an organic, biodegradable, nontoxic cleaning solution to pour into the cartridge. There are also several cleaning solutions that are labeled as safe for pets.

Insert the funnel into the opening and pour two cups of the cleaning solution into the cartridge.

Hold the rubber plug so that the hole faces downward. Squeeze the plug slightly and insert it into the hole in the cartridge. When fully inserted, the top of the plug will be flush with the edge of the cartridge.

Turn the notched side of the cartridge towards the rear of the CatGenie machine and insert it into the cartridge slot.

Turn the CatGenie back on.
