Peke-A-Tese, which originated from Afghanistan, is a common name referred to a dog that is a mix between a Maltese and Pekingese. A mix between two or more purebred dogs is known as a hybrid. A Peke-A-Tese is a hybrid recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club.
Appearance
A Peke-A-Tese is a small dog that generally weighs 6 to 10 lbs. and is 6 to 10 inches in height. This mixed breed generally has a long coat that comes in a wide variety of colors.
Personality
The personality of a Peke-A-Tese depends on if it takes on characteristics of the Maltese breed or the Pekingese breed. According to Puppy Finder, “Peke-A-Tese may get along with older children and other pets, if they have the Maltese temperament. Those with the Pekingese temperament are not good with children or pets.”
Care
A Peke-A-Tese should be brushed everyday and bathed as needed. In general they require little exercise.
Training
A Peke-A-Tese tends to be very opinionated, which makes obedience training difficult. In addition, smaller dogs are difficult to potty train. As a result, it may take patience to housebreak your Peke-A-Tese.
Life Expectancy
A Peke-A-Tese may live up to 15 years.
