Bark Off Directions

| Updated September 26, 2017

Things You'll Need

  • Bark Off

  • 9 volt battery

Bark Off is a dog training aid that emits a high pitched frequency whenever it detects barking. A dog's bark produces high sound pressure levels that can be detected by a microphone inside the unit. After time, your dog will relate the action of barking to an unpleasant sensation caused by the high frequency. Dogs have very sensitive hearing and can sense frequencies that humans cannot.

Put a 9 volt battery in the Bark Off unit by sliding the back off to reveal the battery compartment.

Locate the power switch on the front face of the Bark Off unit and turn it to the "on" position.

Set the sensitivity level on the Bark Off that best suites your dog(s) and home. The Bark Off unit should be placed where your dog is most likely to bark. A good example is placing it near your front door to stop barking when guests arrive. If this area is large, set the sensitivity to high. This will pick up barking sounds from up to 20 feet away. If the area is less than 10 feet away, set the sensitivity to low.

If barking is a problem when your dog is outdoors, place the Bark Off unit in a location where it will be safe from rain and snow. You can place it on your porch, for example, to keep it dry.

Tips

  • You can mount Bark Off to a wall or door using the mounting tray included with the unit.
