How to Get Cat Urine Smell Out of Plastic Playhouse

Cat aficionados would agree that it's possible to smell a naughty kitty from a considerable distance. Of all odors associated with cat ownership, urine is the most lingering, and Kitty isn't particular about where she has an accident when the spirit moves her. Nothing is off-limits, including children's toys. Commercial products are available to neutralize the smell of cat urine, but white vinegar not only neutralizes the ammonia, but is safer to use on items children will handle and might put in their mouths.

Soak up any lingering urine with the paper towels.

Mix one part vinegar with two parts water in the spray bottle. Use an empty unused spray bottle for this task. A recycled bottle may contained traces of other cleaning products.

Spray down the affected area with the vinegar mixture. The vinegar will neutralize the odor.

Wipe down the area with the paper towels.

Rinse the area well with a hose or a bucket of clean water.

Mix a small amount of dishwashing liquid and warm water in your bucket.

Wash the entire playhouse thoroughly with the sponge and rinse well using clean water.

Repeat the process if the odor still lingers, beginning with the vinegar spray.
