Most of us sat in math class and thought that what we learned would never have a place in the real world, but we were wrong. Geometry has many applications when working with livestock, and one of them is fencing. Simple geometry is used to determine materials needed to build any size or shape pen. Building a round pen out of panels uses the basic skills of determining perimeter and area.
Multiply the desired width (diameter) of your pen by 3.14. This will give you the circumference of your circle.
Divide your circumference by the length of the panels you plan on using. This will give you the number of panels. You can choose from 8-, 10- or 12-foot panels.
Purchase your panels and build your pen. Remember to purchase a gate panel.
