If you are an arachnophobe who wants to relocate to a spider-free environment, you do not have very many options. With over 40,000 known species and an incredible level of adaptability to extreme environments, spiders can be found in nearly every corner of the globe, from deserts and forests to shallow streams and seashores.
Spider-Free Locations
There are only a handful of locations on earth where spiders cannot be found. Among these areas are the world's oceans (though some spiders have adapted to life on shorelines and shallow bodies of freshwater), polar regions, like the arctic and Antarctica, and at extreme altitudes of tall mountains.
Traveling by Balloon
Spiders have spread to most areas of the world because of numerous physical and behavioral adaptations. Among these is the behavior known as "ballooning." Many species of spiders will send out threads of silk from their bodies, which can catch a breeze and transport the spider to a different location using the wind.
